Welcome!
In my practice I offer both relaxation (Swedish) and clinical massage.
For those who are unfamiliar with clinical massage, here is a general overview:
Clinical Massage
Distinct from a typical relaxation massage, clinical massage targets the specific muscles and supporting soft tissues involved in many chronic injuries and conditions. Techniques used vary according to each person's situation and may include Swedish massage, myofascial release, Neuromuscular Therapy, trigger point therapy, and/or sports massage.
Common client conditions include:
Your Appointment
A typical appointment is 60 minutes long and begins with a simple intake health form chronicling your health history, current symptoms and desired outcomes for treatment. Treatment may include various assessments including posture and gait analysis, range of motion measurements, and muscle strength tests in addition to hands-on assessment. In regard to hands-on assessment and therapy, although skin-to-skin contact makes for the most effective treatment, there is rarely a need for clients to disrobe entirely. All areas being worked on will be draped appropriately with a sheet at all times.
Treatment Plans
Treatment plans may range from one or two appointments to ongoing weekly or bi-monthly appointments. Ongoing treatment will be re-evaluated every 6 weeks. My goal with every client is to work myself out of a job; clients who have pain from repetitive movements at work, for example, may choose to come for therapy on an ongoing basis, but I want to see all other clients leave my practice vastly improved with no need to return!
